Welcome!

This site meanders through fly-fishing and thinking. My home waters are the streams and rivers of North Wales and in particular the Welsh Dee and its tributaries, where I spend some of my time thinking, and when I am lucky, not-thinking. IMG_0029.JPG

These pages are my small contributions to fishing and thinking. One of the angling greats, G.E.M. Skues, published a book called "The way of a trout with a fly". The word "way" implies a journey, a process of turning potential to actual, worlds within worlds.

I am a Biologist and a Historian of Science by university training, moved onto financial management, but am now refreshing my higher education by embarking on a degree course in Mathematics. One of my biggest regrets was having to choose a "career". I wanted to do the lot and still do.

The site pays tribute to the philosopher Dr A A Luce who wrote a book called "Fishing and Thinking", hence the strap line, but in reverse.

It was Henry David Thoreau who said "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after".

Thanks for looking in.
