What's the future for the Ferox trout?

Recent research has shown that in some Irish and Scottish lakes, ferox trout are reproductively distinct, thereby underlining important implications for the conservation of ferox trout. The giant "brown trout" of Lough Corrib and possibly other lakes and rivers in Ireland and the UK appear to be ferox-like but do not seem to be reproductively distinct.
