Corrib - the end of another frontier?

Corrib%20lunch%20copy.jpgEight consecutive annual pilgrimages to Lough Corrib and with each one, signs that things are changing fast. Corrib is under intense ecological pressure from its local populace and farming industry: Cryptosporedia, algal blooms in January, smaller mayfly hatches, nitrogenous run-off from intensive farming, zebra mussels taking advantage of increasing temperatures, fewer gulls (due to Mink attacking the nesting sites) and so on. This wonderful trout wilderness could be reaching a crisis point, but local politicians seem incapable of acting. Let's hope they see sense, before it's too late.
